A Statement of Intent
Posted on:
I decided to make this the first entry on my new personal website/blog/whatever-this-becomes to make sure I have a clear(-ish) direction in which to go.
The 1st of January 2020 marks the beginning of both a new year and a new decade. I go into 2020 with little in the way of positive developments over the past year and decade. Thus, I make this statement to give myself not goals to work toward, but habits to which I can be held accountable (by myself or others).
To wit:
- I shall write at least 1,000 words per day, regardless of whether I share them.
- I shall draw a total of at least five hours every week as a form of practice. This also applies to pixel art.
- I shall use a website blocker to prevent myself from wasting time on the Internet all day, regardless of whether such usage is productive.
- I shall use social media less than I have to date during times when I have access to it; this includes Twitter, which is one of my biggest timesinks (and a big source for mental health downturns).
- I shall do my best to create things that make people happy, or at least a bit less sad.
These statements of intent will serve as my call to action for the next year. Gotta start somewhere, right?
